Dryopteris affinis (Lowe) Fraser-Jenkin; D.pseudomas (Wollaston) Holub et Pouzar; D.borreri Newman Scaly Male Fern; Golden-scaled Male Fern; Golden Male Fern
The Dryopteris affinis group, or aggregate, contains three species in Britain and Ireland: affinis, borreri and cambrensis. Until recently these were defined as either subspecies or morphotypes of affinis, but have since been raised to species level by Christopher Fraser-Jenkins. Three other species not found in these islands also form part of this group: D. pseudodisjuncta, D. schorapensis and D. pontica.
